The Wisconsin Association of IB World Schools (WAIBWS) is recognized by the IB Organization (IBO) as an independent entity that promotes the International Baccalaureate in Wisconsin.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized educational framework that develops inquiring, knowledgeable, and compassionate students prepared to thrive in a complex, interconnected world. Through internationally respected IB programmes and rigorous assessments, students build critical thinking skills, intercultural understanding, and the confidence to take responsible action for a more peaceful future. IB World Schools foster academic excellence while supporting students’ social, emotional, and physical well-being, empowering learners to become active, lifelong contributors who respect diverse perspectives and make a meaningful global impact. The IB educational continuum is comprised of Primary Years Programming (IB PYP), Middle Years Programming (IB MYP), Diploma Programming (IB DP) and Careers Programming (IB CP).
The Wisconsin Association of IB World Schools (WAIBWS) supports and strengthens IB implementation across Wisconsin by promoting high standards of performance, advancing curriculum development, and providing professional learning for educators and coordinators. The association champions collaboration by connecting schools, students, and communities, increasing public awareness of IB programs, and fostering partnerships with universities and state leaders. Through advocacy, networking, and dedicated support for IB Coordinators, WAIBWS works to expand access to high-quality international education and ensure the continued growth and excellence of IB World Schools throughout Wisconsin.
