President - Carrie Schultz
Carrie Schultz is an IB DP and CP Coordinator with over 20 years of experience in IB education. She currently serves as a WAIBWS President. Carrie brings expertise in school counseling, community engagement, and language and cultural studies. As a former world language teacher, she has a passion for global education and helping students discover their passions and future goals.
Past President - Nicola Malacara
Nicola Malacara is an IB DP Coordinator with over 20 years of experience in IB education. She currently serves as the Past President of WAIBWS. Nicola has a passion for educational equity and access, specifically as it relates to an IB education. As part of the IB Schoolwide Adoption pilot, or IB for All model, Nicola has worked to ensure all students are encouraged to take at least one IB DP course. Altough Case High School has had the IB Diploma Programme since 1978, Nicola was instrumental in a long-term plan to grow the presence of IB in her school through the implementation of both the Career-related Programme and the Middle Years Programme. She also has knowledge and expertise in successfully pairing an IB education with a career academies model.
Vice President - Josh LeGreve
Josh LeGreve is an IB DP Coordinator with over 12 years of experience in IB education. In addition to being the DP Coordinator for Green Lake Schools, he is also the PYP/MYP/DP Spanish Teacher for the district. He is currently the Vice President of WAIBWS. Josh has served on a number of different boards for professional development organizations, incluing having been the president of the Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT) and on the Board of Directors of Central States: Lanuguages for All (formerly CSCTFL). He currently also serves as president-elect of AATSP-WI and the executive secretary of the National Network for Early Language Learning. His passions include inquiry and agency in the classroom and ensuring equitable education for all.
Treasurer - Stephanie Skaarnes
Stephanie Skaarnes is an experienced International Baccalaureate educator and leader with more than 15 years in IB education. She currently serves as Treasurer for WAIBWS and is the MYP Coordinator at Starbuck International K-8. Stephanie’s work centers on hands-on, inquiry-based teaching and learning, with a strong focus on blended and personalized learning models for middle school students and teachers. She has played a key leadership role in guiding Starbuck International through the successful merger of two middle schools, followed by the integration of two elementary schools to create a unified K–8 IB campus in Racine.
Secretary - Jamie Gonzalez
Jamie Gonzalez is a Diploma Programme Coordinator with over 12 years of experience in IB education. She currently serves as the DP Coordinator at Reagan High School and as the Secretary of the WAIBWS board, supporting statewide collaboration, programme development, and communication among IB educators. Her work focuses on strengthening assessment practices, programme development, and collaborative leadership within IB schools. Jamie is passionate about building systems that expand student opportunity while supporting teachers in delivering rigorous and meaningful IB learning experiences.
MYP Representative - Andy Evenson
Andy Evenson is an IB MYP Curriculum Coordinator with over 20 years of experience in IB education. He currently serves as a WAIBWS board member supporting planning, program development, and outreach for Middle Years Programming (MYP). Andy brings expertise in assessment design, community engagement, and educational equity, and is passionate about creating systems that expand student opportunity and increase teacher efficiencies.
DP/CP Representative - Nicholas Gerard-Larson
Nick is an IB DP/CP coordinator with over 10 years of experience in IB education. He previously taught in international schools in Gabon, Hungary, and Peru. Nick brings expertise in inquiry-based learning, multilingualism, and assessment. He currently serves as a WAIBWS board member supporting planning, program development, and outreach for the Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP).
Executive Advisor - Daniel Gatewood
Retired - Rufus King High School, MPS
Daniel Gatewood is an IB Examiner for Theory of Knowledge (ToK) and a DP site visitor. He facilitates face-to-face, online synchronous, and online asynchronous workshops focused on ToK, Coordination, and History. Daniel has over 20 years of experience working with IB programmes (MYP and DP).
Daniel lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his wife, daughter, and their Bernedoodle
